About Five Leaves
Five Leaves is a long standing Greenpoint bistro serving New American fare with an Aussie accent. Open early for brunch and continuing service through dinner daily. With a loyal local and international following, the focus is on the food but is supported by strong coffee and cocktail programs. The venue is compact but highly efficient, its distinct character defined by handcrafted design, curated music, and genuine hospitality.
About The Role- Act as role model for BOH team; continuously works to elevate service standards, and personally embody hospitality in daily actions
- Manage all staff in their daily responsibilities, providing clear, effective direction
- Ensure timely and thorough completion of all shift work (including opening and closing checklists), as assigned, in accordance with department standards
- Openly and considerately share and receive knowledge, techniques, praise, and supportive critique with staff
- Maintain expert knowledge of all menu offerings
- Uphold operating standards for the culinary department
- Ensure all items are prepared properly and in a timely manner for service daily
- Able to work a variable schedule per the needs of the business
Skills & Experience
- Able to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
- Attend all mandatory meetings
- Maintain weekly inventory cycle; Ensure consistent, accurate and timely completion of inventory
- Cultivate positive, professional relations with vendors including interactions on property with staff
- Resolve team member or customer conflicts through Company complaint handling procedure
- Maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work area clean and organized
- Address any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely
- Complete other duties as assigned by Executive Chef and Ownership.
- Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics and a level of integrity which inspire team members to meet and exceed standards
- Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
- NYC DOH Food Protection Certificate (required)
- Proficient Spanish Language skills are ideal
$18 - $21 per hour
