Penalty Support Specialist - Hybrid

Job Summary (List Format):

- Position: Penalty Support Specialist (AZDOR - Taxpayer Services)
- Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid; 10% onsite at 1600 W. Monroe, Phoenix, AZ 85007)
- Contract Length: 1 year from projected start date
- Pay Rate: $18/hr on W2 (all inclusive), overtime available
- Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm (40 hours/week)
- Onsite Requirement: Must be onsite as needed to process mail
- Candidate Requirement: Local candidates only; must be available for in-person interview and able to start within 2 weeks of offer

Primary Responsibilities:
- Process incoming AZ tax forms (Forms 285 and 290), review for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and process Power of Attorney (POA) and Penalty Abatement forms for data entry
- Organize and securely store paper, email, and fax records of forms and actions taken
- Research and resolve POA and prescreening issues or questions
- Serve as point-of-contact for taxpayer inquiries related to Forms 285 and 290
- Provide basic (tier 1) customer service to taxpayers regarding form completion
- Escalate complex or intermediate taxpayer inquiries to senior team members
- Process mail onsite as assigned
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned

Required Skills:
- Basic administrative skills (typing, filing, etc.)
- Knowledge of basic office equipment
- 10-key experience (preferred)
- Ability to handle confidential information securely

Education:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
