Nursing Unit Manager

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and directs nursing services for residents on the unit assigned, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews complaints and grievances made or filed by staff, making appropriate reports to the Director of Nursing as required or necessary.
• Ensures an adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, equipment, and other essential items is maintained on the unit at all times, notifying appropriate personnel of needs.
• Assists in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident.
• Makes nursing/aide assignments as indicated, ensuring effective staffing and resource allocation.
• Encourages staff to attend and participate in outside training programs, scheduling times as appropriate.
• Reviews nurses' notes to ensure they are informative, descriptive, and reflective of the nursing care provided, in accordance with the resident's wishes.
