Location Pembroke Pines, Florida Summary Performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Responsibilities Prepares and administers ultrasound enhancing agents (UEA) and/or medications within scope of practice when applicable. Monitors patient condition and reports changes in status as aligned with department policy. Performs advanced diagnostic imaging (3D, myocardial mechanics, mechanical circulatory support devices, transcatheter therapies, etc.) when applicable. Coordinates patient care with other members of the healthcare team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and desired patient outcomes. May travel to satellite locations to perform diagnostic procedures. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes imaging results and takes appropriate action to improve image quality for optimal results. Enter, transmit, and report thorough comprehensive preliminary report of study data to physician staff. Prepares equipment and supplies; selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Applies safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment; troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Ensures proper working order of equipment. Reviews patient history and physician's orders; educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Adult Echocardiography – One (1) year of experience working in an IAC accredited institution. In lieu of one year of experience, will accept credentialed new grads (within 1 year of graduation). Pediatric Echocardiography (Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital) – One (1) year of experience imaging congenital heart defect and surgical repairs in an IAC accredited institution. In lieu of experience, will accept new grads (within 1 year of graduation). Must obtain credential within six (6) months of starting the position. Other Information: Education: Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program. Associates degree (or higher) in a related field is acceptable in lieu of the completion of an Ultrasound Imaging/Sonographer Program.
