Job Title: Press Assistant Job Description

The Press Assistant supports printing and production operations by inspecting printed products, completing finishing tasks, and operating key production equipment. This role ensures labels and packaging meet quality standards through visual and automated inspection, accurate documentation, and efficient machine operation within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Conduct visual and automated inspection of printed products to ensure they meet quality and specification standards.
• Perform finishing operations to complete rolls of labels and prepare them for packaging and shipment.
• Record the results of inspections and production operations on designated forms with accuracy and completeness.
• Operate production equipment including Slitter, Seamer, Inspection Table, and Cutter in a safe and efficient manner.
• Use basic hand tools, rulers, and calculators to perform measurements and calculations required for production tasks.
• Follow established manufacturing processes and production procedures to maintain consistent output and product quality.
• Perform general production duties as needed to support overall manufacturing workflow.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with all departments to support smooth operations.
• Complete assigned tasks in a self-directed manner while meeting production deadlines and quality expectations.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and report any equipment or product issues promptly.
• Work normal shift hours and overtime as required to meet production demands.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support the printing and packaging operation.

• Good mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production machinery.
• Basic computer skills to support production and documentation tasks.
• Basic math skills for measurements, counts, and production-related calculations.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand work instructions and communicate with team members.
• Ability to use a ruler, calculator, and basic hand tools for measurement and setup tasks.
• Strong attention to detail to identify defects during visual inspections and ensure product quality.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage tasks, documentation, and workflow efficiently.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player in a manufacturing environment.
• Punctuality and reliability in attending scheduled shifts and overtime when required.
• Self-directed approach to task completion with minimal supervision.
• Professionalism and good interpersonal skills to interface with all departments.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of production duties.
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus, with visual acuity correctable to Snellen 20/20.
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, and reach overhead on a constant basis during the shift.
• High school education or equivalent.

• Prior related experience in machine operating in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Experience with production and general manufacturing processes.
• Background in printing or packaging operations is beneficial.
• Experience as a machine operator, particularly in a printing or packaging environment.
• Familiarity with visual inspection techniques in a manufacturing context.
• Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly.

The role is based in a manufacturing and printing production facility focused on labels and packaging. Work is performed on and around machinery such as slitters, seamers, inspection tables, cutters, and other production equipment. The position requires constant standing, walking, squatting, bending, and reaching overhead throughout the shift, as well as regularly lifting up to 35 lbs. Visual inspections are a key part of the job, requiring close and color vision with visual acuity correctable to Snellen 20/20. Normal shift hours apply, with overtime required as production demands. The environment is fast-paced and process-driven, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and adherence to established manufacturing procedures. Attire is typical for a manufacturing setting, with practical clothing suitable for operating machinery and performing physical tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Robbinsville, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
