The client seeks an engaging Executive Director to lead a highly respected, community-centered organization at a pivotal point in its evolution. Guided by a current strategic plan, the Executive Director will advance a mission centered on open access to information, community building, resilience, and operational excellence. The role will help ensure the library remains a welcoming and accessible resource for the community in Brunswick, Harpswell, and the surrounding region, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability. The Executive Director will steward a beloved public institution with a long history of community support, building on strengths such as a warm, inclusive environment, modernized facilities, and a culture of innovation that includes both digital resources and sustainability-focused community initiatives. Partnering with dedicated staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders, the leader will expand partnerships, strengthen the civic role of the library, and support program and service growth in response to evolving community needs. The position emphasizes balancing tradition with innovation while maintaining exceptional service. Strategic and operational responsibilities include championing intellectual freedom, overseeing a diverse funding model, supporting a mission-driven team, and ensuring thoughtful stewardship of facilities and resources.
