NYC union HVAC contractor seeks a HVAC Senior Estimator who is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial, industrial, or residential HVAC projects while supporting business development and ensuring projects are bid competitively and profitably. Local 638b benefits apply to this role

Typical job duties include:

Estimating & Bid Preparation

• Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC equipment, piping, ductwork, controls, and accessories.
• Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Develop complete bid proposals and pricing packages.
• Analyze project risks and recommend contingency allowances.

Project Analysis

• Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Identify value engineering opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
• Assess project scope and identify potential change orders or scope gaps.
• Evaluate scheduling and manpower requirements.

Client & Team Coordination

• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients.
• Answer Requests for Information (RFIs) during the bidding process.
• Present estimates and pricing recommendations to management.
