Job Description: The senior accountant will be responsible for owning the day‑to‑day accounting workflows including oversight of the AP function, treasury management, and monthly financial reporting for a portfolio of affordable housing projects. The individual will be expected to interact with property management, asset management, and accounting team staff as needed. The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the daily accounting, financial reporting, and compliance requirements for a portfolio of affordable housing properties. The incumbent will ensure adherence to Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), HUD, and other regulatory agency guidelines. The individual will have daily interactions with property management, asset management, and accounting team staff. Initial Responsibilities and Duties Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for properties. Compliance Management: Maintain strict adherence to all real estate and non‑profit regulatory requirements Audit & Tax: Coordinate year‑end audits and tax return preparation with external CPA firms. Cash Management: Monitor property cash flows, reserves, and intercompany advances. Variance Analysis: Review actual financial performance against approved annual budgets monthly with department heads and portfolio managers. Team Collaboration: Assist property managers with billing, tenant ledgers, and variance inquiries. Process Improvement: Implement new processes and procedures to increase the efficiency of the monthly close process.
