Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) – Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) Specialist Location: 6911 S Yosemite St, Centennial, CO 80112 Salary/Range: $65,000-$75,000 (Commensurate with experience) Must be eligible for SLP registration in the state of Colorado. STAR Institute is looking for a talented speech-language pathologist to join our multi-disciplinary team. We specialize in working with individuals and families with differences in the sensory integrative process. Our practice model utilizes an interdisciplinary client-led and family-centered approach. The STAR Frame of Reference synthesizes Sensory Integration therapy as conceptualized by Ayres and the DIR/Floortime model. The client population served includes autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, learning differences, auditory processing differences, motor coordination differences, and other developmental, learning, mental health and behavioral differences. This position will work within our autism support team and focus on supporting individuals in the emerging area of developmental motor apraxia in autism. Duties include participating in multi-disciplinary evaluations, providing individual and group therapy services using the STAR PROCESS treatment method, documenting progress in treatment notes, education and coaching, communicating directly with physicians and other external health care providers, and other duties as appropriate. Must love to learn and want to be on the cutting edge of research and practice in the sensory integrative process. Extensive mentorship and supervision are provided. The SLP will work closely with the Clinical Director to ensure therapy team services are effective and well-coordinated, oversee caseloads within the team, and ensure current evidence-based practice and outcome measures are embedded in practice of all clinicians. The Autism Team works closely with the mental health team to support individuals and families in crisis and with high support needs. Applicants must have at least five years post-registration experience, considerable AAC experience; training in Rapid Prompting Method or Spelling 2 Communicate; and/or Natural Language Acquisition; must have advanced specialist clinical expertise in assessment, treatment and documentation of therapeutic supports for neurodivergent populations. Must be comfortable working in a neurodivergent affirming setting. Training in SCERTS, iLS, Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, Trust Based Relational Intervention, Circle of Security, also a plus. Experience with team building skills and collaborative style are crucial to success. Lifting: Raising an object from a lower to a higher position, or moving an object laterally, from position to position. Required to lift up to 50 lbs of force independently. May be required to lift over 50 lbs with assistance of another person or a mechanical lift. Stooping: Bending the body forward and down from the waist, hips and knees, sometimes for a prolonged length of time.
