THE POSITION

As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Human Services, you will take on meaningful work that supports the daily operations of South Mountain Restoration Center. This role allows you to apply many different trade skills while helping maintain a safe and comfortable setting. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides maintenance services that support skilled work across several trades, with a primary focus on carpentry at South Mountain Restoration Center. The role includes completing skilled and semi-skilled projects in the carpentry shop, along with work in plumbing, electrical repair, painting, air conditioning, and refrigeration. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:
  • Carpentry Tasks: Repair doors and furniture, construct partitions, and operate woodworking tools
  • Skilled Trades Work: Perform tasks in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, air conditioning, and refrigeration as assigned
  • Building Maintenance: Complete drywall, plaster, painting, flooring, masonry, roofing, siding, and general structural repair work
  • Equipment Repair: Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, pumps, generators, fixtures, and various facility equipment
  • Grounds Care: Remove snow, cut grass, and operate basic grounds and outdoor equipment
  • Record Keeping: Maintain preventive maintenance records and schedules

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
