Personal Care Assistant and Job Coach

This is a 10 month calendar (8 hours per day) position covered by the WCHSSSA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Essential duties and responsibilities include attending to personal needs of disabled students, securing students into necessary equipment, calling for medical services when needed, helping students embark and debark from buses, escorting students to various locations, assisting educators and case managers, performing clerical tasks, becoming familiar with student accommodation plans, observing, recording and charting behavior of students, providing student assistance during evacuation drills, maintaining confidentiality of all student information, providing assistance with daily activities including physical and occupational therapy, assisting certified staff with students' daily/weekly behavior plan, maintaining safety of classroom environment, providing 1-1 assistance with feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, and protecting student privacy, physical transfers to provide 1-1 assistance with feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene, transporting students in school vehicles, providing oversight for students in community/job placements, and carrying out other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities include none.

Education, certification, and experience include ISBE license or paraprofessional letter of approval required, experience working with persons with disabilities preferred, CPR/AED Certification desired, and School Bus Permit.

Skills and abilities include the ability to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of the position, ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both orally and in writing, in English, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external constituents, ability to work independently, stay on task, multi-task, and take responsibility to complete assigned projects and duties in a timely and efficient manner.
