We are accepting applications for Preschool Teacher. At this time, we have 1 opening for a 6-hour 10-month employee in the Child Care Department Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The eligibility list will be used to fill current substitute and future permanent openings and will be certified for six months. Please review experience and education requirements before applying. BASIC FUNCTION Under the direction and supervision of the Preschool Site Supervisor, the Preschool Teacher provides a safe, nurturing environment and engaging activities to support preschool-aged children's developmental and social-emotional needs. The Preschool Teacher provides education, care, and supervision in classrooms and playgrounds. This position employs a range of instructional techniques and strategies to enhance student progress by establishing and maintaining a productive classroom environment. The Preschool Teacher assists in the development and implementation of the program curriculum.

Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies and strategies and activities such as singing, dance, rhythm, and arts and crafts to instruct a wide range of students based on their developmental, physical, and emotional maturity
- Prepare appropriate educational development plans for students
- Utilize informal and formal assessments and exercises to evaluate student skill levels
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment by performing housekeeping tasks, checking equipment and grounds for safety, and reporting any concerns or faulty equipment that do not meet safety standards
- Plan and implement a variety of physical activities to develop student gross and fine motor skills
- Provide routine first aid, contact Preschool Site Supervisor, families, police, fire, and emergency medical services as required
- Guide children with self-care, hygiene, and toileting needs, which includes diapering children
- May assist, prepare, and distribute snacks or meals
- May administer pre-authorized medication under specific guidelines and direction
- Complete and maintain a variety of records and files, including confidential student records and medical information
- Plan, design, and provide meaningful learning and developmental activities for preschool classes, including a program of instruction designed to enhance developmental, emotional, and physical capabilities of students Preschool Teacher
- Plan, coordinate, and maintain a supportive learning environment independently by working collaboratively with co-workers to develop lessons and learning activities
- Deliver education by using effective oral communication skills and provide students with clearly communicated instructions
- Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive preschool classroom that promotes teamwork and collaboration among staff, students, and families

- Equivalent to the completion of High School and 12-semester units (or equivalent quarter units) in early childhood education or child development, including at least one three-semester unit (or four-quarter unit) course in each of the following core areas:
- Child growth and development or human growth and development
- Child, family, and community or child and family
- Program/curriculum
- Possession of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate
- Possession of a current Community C.P.R. Certificate

- Engage in moderate physical activity, working in both indoor and outdoor environments throughout day
- Stand and walk for extended periods (greater than one hour) while supervising children and facilitating physical activities, including running/jogging, to ensure safety during play
