Accounts Receivable Specialist – Belleville, IL Hospice of Southern Illinois seeks an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage billing, claims, and payment processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance. This full‑time, non‑exempt position is essential to maintaining financial integrity and supporting patient care. Position Summary Interacts with finance, admissions, medical records, and clinical departments. Manages timely claim payment, filing, and correction of errors. Analyzes accounts receivable, reconciles entries, and ensures accurate general ledger postings. Uses Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing systems (Suncoast, Great Plains, DDE, Medi, Medicaid HMO). Requires strong analytical, time‑management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Key Details Pay: $23.47 per hour, 40 hours/week. Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Location: Hospice of Southern Illinois Administration Office, 305 South Illinois Street, Belleville, IL 62220 (not remote). Benefits Paid time off, extended illness benefits. Responsibilities Process patient billing in Suncoast and Great Plains; complete reconciliation. File claims electronically or manually according to payor requirements. Post payments/adjustments accurately and timely. Create and manage journal entries for general ledger. Investigate and resolve claim issues; follow up with insurers. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations. Prepare Medicare Notice of Elections (81As) and terminations (81Bs); similar Medicaid notices. Operate DDE, Medi, Medicaid HMO portals, Claims Management Pro. Apply accounting principles and ensure compliance with billing codes. Collaborate with team, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively. Accurately document timesheet and manage paid time off requests. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited high school; associate degree preferred. Experience: Three years accounts receivable experience preferred; knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid medical insurance billing. Other Qualifications: Strong accuracy, attention to detail, ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, interpret claim submission requirements, and meet firm deadlines.
