About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (645a-715p, every other weekend) Experience: Minimum 2 years acute inpatient PCU RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Patient assessment, plan of care, clinical interventions, patient and family education, evidence-based practice Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are priorities. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is essential. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care is vital. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Focus on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction is important. The RN utilizes educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care. Mentoring and precepting staff are key responsibilities. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor and preceptor. Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model. Required Skills and Experience: Two years of acute care RN experience. Preferred Skills and Experience: N/A
