School Maintenance Worker CE-4749-02, (plus Recruitment & Retention Incentives)

Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well-being. Requirements High School or GED diploma is required. Must have a minimum of one year's experience in general maintenance or related work, demonstrating skill in at least three skill/craft areas (e.g., electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry). All applicants must demonstrate the ability to follow written and oral instructions. Physical requirement: Incumbent must be able to lift over 50 pounds; be in excellent physical condition; have good distance vision in one eye and ability to read printed material the size of typed characters; ability to hear conversational voice with or without a hearing aid. An amputation of arm, hand, leg or foot will not disqualify the applicant, although it may require use of a satisfactory prosthesis. Incumbent must have mental and emotional stability. Occasionally, incumbents may be required to travel for training purposes or attendance at meetings away from the duty station.
