Assistant Manager I

Overview We’re seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join our team to help with store operations, customer service and team development. Responsibilities Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day store activities. Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns. Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor; keep seasonal areas maintained. Perform opening and closing procedures. Process all corporate directives, including Pull & Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests and other store communications. Maintain promotional effectiveness of store‑front fixtures and displays. Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts). Maintain a well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards. Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash. Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure all associates follow company policies. Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates. Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional and friendly interactions. Keep the store clean: bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall neatness. Other duties as assigned. Assist in obtaining necessary licenses for alcohol and/or tobacco sales, if applicable. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics). Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment (preferred). Physical ability to lift up to 55lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting. Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills. Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment. Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Prior experience meeting safety guidelines and loss‑prevention protocols.
