Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Nurse Job – Madison, Wisconsin

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370 per week
• Schedule: Primarily three 12-hour evening or night shifts per week; 3:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. Eight-hour shifts may be scheduled as needed.
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Rotation required
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 4:1
• Orientation: 20 hours
• Emergency Department Setting: High-acuity emergency department with comprehensive specialty support, trauma care, advanced cardiac and stroke services, and critical care capabilities
• Travel Nursing Requirement: Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the assignment location; local candidates are not eligible

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience caring for both adult and pediatric populations within the past 3 years
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Current TNCC certification
• Recent Epic electronic health record charting experience required
• Emergency department experience in a Level II trauma setting required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Experience in a large, high-volume emergency department preferred
• Ability to complete and pass a telemetry examination before the start of the assignment
• Ability to float to another nearby emergency department as needed
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Influenza vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered

Travel ER RN Responsibilities

• Perform rapid assessment, triage, reassessment, and prioritization for patients with a broad range of emergent and urgent conditions
• Provide safe, patient-centered emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients, including neonates, infants, adolescents, and geriatric patients
• Care for patients experiencing trauma, stroke, STEMI, respiratory failure, sepsis, overdose, behavioral health crises, burns, neurological emergencies, and multisystem illness
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, procedural sedation, IV therapies, and continuous infusions according to established protocols
• Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, BiPAP/CPAP, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, vasopressors, and other advanced interventions
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and 12-lead ECGs, recognize life-threatening dysrhythmias, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Support airway management, intubation, resuscitation, trauma response, and critical care stabilization
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and outcomes in Epic
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Maintain a safe, organized clinical environment while supporting patients and families during high-stress situations
