JOB SUMMARY

The Injectable and Diagnostic Coordinator Is responsible for coordinating and securing referrals and authorizations related to imaging, prescriptions, and VISCO dash related treatments (such as VISCO supplementation injections) within an orthopedic clinical setting. This role works closely with physicians, clinical staff, provider offices, payers, impatience to ensure timely and accurate submission and follow up of insurance authorizations and referrals to support patient care delivery. This position plays a vital role in helping patients receive necessary treatments without delay while also ensuring compliance with payer events to support successful reimbursement. This employee will also oversee all outside referrals.

• $16.00 - $17.00 an hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits ordered services, including:
  • Imaging studies (MRI, CT, Ultrasound)
  • Prescribed medications (including VISCO or injectable therapies)
  • Specialist referrals
• Proactively follow up with payers to track status of pending referrals/authorizations
• Notify patients and clinical teams of authorization status and communicate any delays, denials, or patient out-of-pocket costs
• Schedule injection appointments once authorization is obtained communicate with pharmacies, specialty medication, providers, and manufacturer hub programs when necessary for RX approvals or coverage investigations
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system and/or referral management system, including authorization numbers, expiration dates, and communication notes
• Work closely with clinical and billing teams to prevent claim denials due to missing or incorrect authorizations
• Assist with denial resolution by gathering supporting clinical documentation for appeals or coordinating peer-to-peer reviews stay informed on payer policies related to imaging, prescriptions, and specialty drug authorizations support process improvements to streamline VISCO-related referral workflows and improved turnaround time
• All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in healthcare or business preferred
• 2 plus years of experience in medical referrals, prior authorizations, or insurance verification in a clinical setting (preferably orthopedics, pain management, rheumatology, or imaging)
• Familiarity with insurance requirements for radiology, injections (such as hyaluronic acid, viscose supplements), and prescription medications
• Experience with EMR systems, payer portals and referral/authorization workflows

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Working knowledge of a large medical office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills and ability to prioritize assigned workloads
