Data Storage Engineer

Location: Arlington, VA Shift: 1st Required Clearance: Top Secret with ability to attain and maintain Client EOD and SCI

This position provides technical expertise in design, development, and deployment of applications software and storage solutions. This position requires a highly motivated, self-reliant team player who is comfortable with managing multiple tasks and responsibilities. Experienced hands-on knowledge with the following:

• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Unix/Linux system administration.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux shell scripting, including PowerShell and Perl.

Capabilities:

• Design, plan, and set up applications and storage in a Unix/Linux and Windows SAN environment (disk layout, RAID levels, etc.) to ensure performance and data availability.
• Apply required updates and patches and support failover.
• Responsible for the day-to-day management of the storage area network (SAN).
• Integrates multi-vendor solutions utilizing vendor agnostic approach to design and implementing advance storage solutions.
• Monitor and tune system to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Address support requests for incident resolution, problem determination, and root cause analysis of applications and storage related issues causing outage or performance degradation
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously with little management oversight.
• Perform replication services and data protection.
• Research and make recommendations on new storage technologies, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Six or more years of related experience supporting an enterprise SAN solution.
• Good knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture, TCP/IP, firewall/VLAN configuration, hardware-based load balancing, encryption, and network security best practices.
• Experience with configuring SAN environment and implementing NAS protocols.
• Experience with applications in a VM and SAN environment.
• Demonstrated skills in solving problems and able to work collaboratively within a team or independently.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
