Sales Agent and Development Manager for B2B Benefits

Role Description This full-time hybrid role, based in San Diego, CA, with some work-from-home flexibility, combines responsibilities of a Sales Agent and Development Manager for B2B Benefits. The individual in this role will prospect and build relationships with employers, conduct needs assessments, and present Colonial Life’s benefits solutions to decision-makers in small, mid-sized, and large organizations. Daily activities include managing a sales pipeline, delivering consultative sales presentations, coordinating enrollment strategies, and ensuring effective implementation of workplace benefits programs. The role also involves supporting and developing a local sales team by providing coaching, mentoring, and training on product knowledge and sales best practices. The Sales Agent and Development Manager will collaborate closely with internal partners, use CRM tools to track results, and focus on building long-term, mutually beneficial client relationships.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in B2B sales, preferably in employee benefits, insurance, or related financial services.
• Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with business owners, HR leaders, and executives.
• Experience in team development, including mentoring, coaching, and supporting sales professionals.
• Comfort with hybrid work arrangements, including in-person client visits in the San Diego, CA area and remote work from home.
• Ability to manage a sales pipeline, meet revenue and activity targets, and use CRM or sales-tracking tools effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including delivering group presentations and one-on-one consultations.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and follow-through.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain applicable state insurance licenses (if not already licensed).
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client and team meetings within the region.
