A day in this role
You arrive to a line of custom low-voltage switchgear and switchboards waiting for their final proving run. You review the build packet, open the drawings, and begin methodically validating every circuit. With a multimeter in hand and a keen eye for detail, you verify readings, ensure wiring accuracy, and confirm operation against applicable standards.
What you'll handle- Own product quality for custom, sophisticated electrical assemblies by testing and inspecting low-voltage switchgear and switchboards to UL1558, UL891, IEEE, and related standards.
- Apply electronic theory to verify power measurements and confirm circuit design aligns with schematics and specifications.
- Perform Hipot and card-based tests; use hand tools and other test aids to validate performance and safety.
- Use specialized software—Siemens WinPM, Step 7, MicroWin, WinC Flexible, SAP—to execute and document test and inspection routines.
- Conduct detailed inspections and audits of mechanical and electrical subassemblies.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports for all testing and inspection activities.
- Multimeter, Hipot equipment, test cards, and standard hand tools.
- Software such as Siemens WinPM, Step 7, MicroWin, WinC Flexible, and SAP for testing, inspection, and documentation.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2+ years of exposure to or knowledge of electrical components.
- Hands-on testing and troubleshooting experience with strong problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic.
- Associate Degree.
- 2+ years in engineering or quality roles supporting power distribution equipment.
- Working knowledge of UL1558, UL891, and UL508.
- Familiarity with power distribution components (breakers, relays, communication devices).
Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
