HI:Kauai:Waimea:Kauai Veterans Mem Hosp | Clerical, Administrative and Support | Permanent/Full-time Salary: $46,800 per year (FTE) Posted 4 months ago About the Position The Patient Account Representative II (Hospitals & Clinics) is located in the Patient Financial Services department of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region. The role focuses on collecting cash, collaborating with all payors to ensure timely recovery of outstanding accounts receivable, processing claims to maximize reimbursement for services provided. Responsibilities include determining credit status, arranging payments, processing accounts for collection agencies according to established policies, and handling other assigned tasks. The position involves a significant volume of work within constrained timeframes, may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and travel within the region. Responsibilities • Collect and manage patient accounts for cash and insurance payments • Determine credit status and arrange payment plans • Process claims, resolve denials, and negotiate with payors • Prepare and submit accounts for collection agencies when appropriate • Collaborate with clinical, financial, and administrative departments to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of patient and financial information Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent (substitutions may be considered) General Experience: Two (2) years of typing, stenographic, clerical work, cashiering, data input, or customer service demonstrating knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, office equipment, and the ability to process clerical work systems. General Experience Substitution: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required general experience. Specialized Experience: One (1) year of work experience performing medical billing and collections in a hospital, long‑term care facility, clinic, or outpatient setting. Specialized Experience Substitution: Experience in billing and collections in a financial institution, retail, hotel, or similar organization may substitute for one year of specialized experience. License: Current, valid State of Hawai’i type #3 driver’s license is preferred. Eligibility Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States and intend to reside in Hawaii during employment. Veteran’s Preference: Veterans may submit DD‑214 or other substantiating documents.
