This individual will be responsible for ensuring APMs and PMs have the guidance and resources needed to successfully deliver their projects while maintaining HITT’s standards for safety, quality, financial performance, schedule, and client satisfaction.The ideal candidate is an experienced construction leader who knows how to develop people, oversee multiple project teams, build strong client relationships, and identify risks before they become problems.ResponsibilitiesLead, manage, and develop Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers responsible for portfolios of approximately 5–8 active projects at a timeProvide executive-level oversight across commercial construction projects typically ranging from $5M–$30M in valueMentor and develop APMs and PMs, helping strengthen their technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and overall project management capabilitiesEstablish clear expectations and hold project teams accountable for safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and client satisfactionMaintain visibility across each team's project portfolio, proactively identifying potential risks, challenges, and resource needsGuide project teams through the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction and RFP through construction, turnover, and closeoutEnsure APMs and PMs effectively manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, change management, and overall financial performanceMaintain adherence to HITT’s standards of safety and ensure all project processes are followed in accordance with company policiesSupport project teams in resolving complex scope, subcontractor, scheduling, contractual, and client-related challengesEnsure project Quality Control Plans are properly implemented and maintainedPartner with project teams to evaluate staffing and resource needs across the portfolioEnsure proper assignment, development, and evaluation of project and field personnelBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients while serving as a senior point of escalation when neededSupport PMs in navigating difficult client conversations, contract negotiations, and project challengesIdentify and negotiate time extensions when justified and allowedMaintain positive and productive relationships within the subcontractor communityLead and support preconstruction and RFP efforts in partnership with the Preconstruction Department and other company resourcesHelp identify and pursue new business opportunities while expanding relationships with existing clientsEnsure teams maintain an organized and timely project closeout processBalance staffing, priorities, and resources across multiple project teams to keep projects moving forwardFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, mentorship, and continuous development within the Los Angeles teamQualifications10+ years of commercial construction experience with a general contractorDemonstrated experience leading and developing Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, and project teamsStrong experience providing oversight across multiple projects and teams simultaneouslyExperience with commercial construction projects ranging from approximately $5M–$30MProven ability to mentor project management professionals and help them successfully manage demanding project portfoliosStrong understanding of project financials, scheduling, contracts, procurement, change management, subcontractor management, and construction operationsAbility to maintain a high-level view across multiple projects while knowing when to become directly involved in project-level challengesStrong leadership and people-management skills with a passion for developing and mentoring team membersExcellent client-facing, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skillsProven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and contribute to new business opportunitiesBachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a concentration in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field strongly preferredIn lieu of a degree, additional relevant construction experience will be consideredProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteMake an Impact at HITTThis is an opportunity for an experienced construction leader to play a key role within HITT Contracting’s Los Angeles team in El Segundo, CA.
