Social Worker-LCSW (Gr. 6-8) 2026-2027 School Year The Lang School seeks creative, passionate, and dedicated teachers and specialists to support our twice-exceptional (2e) students — gifted students with learning differences — across a variety of grades, subjects, and clinical support areas. We offer our highly promising learners in grades 1-12 a rigorous, learner-centered, empirically validated education with integrated supports that foster independence and self-advocacy. We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to work collaboratively with our School Psychology, Therapy, and Education Teams, as well as with students, parents, and outside providers. Preferred Requirements NY State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Master’s degree in Social Work, or a related field. Minimum of two years working in an educational setting Experience working with twice-exceptional students or neurodivergent learners. Demonstrated alignment with our mission and core SEL & EF programs — (Experience with CPS, PBIS, CBT, DBT, OST/OTMP is recommended but not required). Strong knowledge of psychological assessments, executive functioning challenges, and interventions for gifted and learning-disabled students Experience reading and interpreting Neuropsychological Evaluations and IEPs Proficiency with classroom technologies, online learning platforms, and Google Suite Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and does not require sponsorship for an employment visa to work in the U.S. now or in the future Qualification & Skills Authentic connection with our school's mission and our student population of twice-exceptional learners Experience working in gifted and special needs learning spaces, and have deep knowledge in and passion for their area(s) of specialty Grounded in an understanding of progressive, inquiry-based education Experience with or a desire to teach, counsel, mentor, in a setting that honors the competence, independence, and promise of children so that strengths can be amplified and skills in progress are supported with transferable strategies and tools Creative designer of learning experiences who leverage student interests, realworld problems, and professional tools to create a purposeful experience that drives student learning Experience teaching, counseling, mentoring, gifted and twice-exceptional students. Deep knowledge of historical inquiry, historiography, and research-based instruction. Familiarity with neurodivergent learning profiles (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, autism, anxiety). Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Preferred Experience Background in progressive or strengths-based educational models. Training in social-emotional learning (SEL), trauma-informed care, and restorative practices. Experience supporting students with anxiety, perfectionism, and self-regulation challenges. Familiarity with assistive technology and interventions for executive functioning. Responsibilities Conduct psychological and psychoeducational assessments to identify students’ strengths, challenges, and support needs. Develop and implement individualized interventions to support students’ executive functioning, emotional regulation, and social development. Provide short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and emotional support for students. Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and administrators to develop and implement accommodations, IEPs, and 504 Plans. Support faculty in implementing best practices for neurodivergent learners, including strategies for gifted and learning-disabled students. Facilitate student-centered problem-solving meetings and support restorative practices. Provide parent guidance, education, and collaboration to help families navigate twice exceptional learning needs. Stay up to date with research on neurodivergence, mental health, and best practices for 2e student support. Contribute to professional development for faculty on topics such as executive functioning, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed practices. Maintain accurate records and adhere to ethical guidelines and confidentiality standards. Conduct regular observations and collect/interpret data to identify the current developmental and cognitive needs of a caseload of around 25 students Based on all information and current evaluations, create/update Transition Plans and Learner Profiles Provide at least weekly 1:1 and group counseling onsite to student caseload, including crisis intervention & support Participate in the Admissions process via student observations or 1:1 meetings, and feedback to the Admissions Team Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents Participate in all school and grade meetings, and in opportunities for professional development Willingness to support with additional tasks or committees as requested by leadership Experience working with twice-exceptional students or neurodivergent learners. Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to support student success.
