Sr. Financial Analyst or Finance Manager

Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst / Finance Manager– Distribution serves as a strategic business partner to the distribution and logistics teams. This role drives operational excellence by delivering financial analysis, forecasting, and insights that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support decision-making across the supply chain. The analyst will play a pivotal role in translating data into actionable recommendations, developing KPI dashboards, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to optimize performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial reports for supply chain functions (distribution, logistics, and inventory).
\n
• Conduct variance and trend analyses to identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities for efficiency/profitability improvements.
\n
• Conduct variance analyses for freight and duty actuals vs standard
\n
• Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance commentary.
\n
• Develop Monthly Inventory reporting to capture inventory and SKU data by division by aging bucket including SKU productivity metrics.
\n
• Develop financial models to evaluate warehouse performance, capital investments, and operational initiatives.
\n

Budgeting & Forecasting

\n
• Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting for supply chain operations, including operating expenses, capital expenditures, and unit flows by division by order type.
\n
• Review and update distribution forecasts based on changing supply and demand conditions-unit flows
\n
• Monitor performance against forecasts, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
\n
• Support long-range financial planning and scenario modeling to assess operational strategies.
\n

KPI & Dashboard Development

• Design, build, and maintain dashboards to track KPIs for distribution, logistics, and inventory functions.
\n
• Partner with IT and operations teams to extract and structure data from multiple sources, ensuring integrity and consistency.
\n
• Train stakeholders on dashboard use and interpretation to strengthen data-driven decision-making.
\n

Business Partnership & Collaboration

• Serve as a trusted advisor to Distribution Center management, logistics leaders, and division finance/sales teams.
\n
• Implement recurring monthly/quarterly cross functional meetings to review financial performance and KPI's to discuss trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
\n
• Translate financial data into insights for non-financial stakeholders, supporting cost savings and operational improvements.
\n
• Participate in strategic projects, supplier negotiations, and inventory optimization initiatives.
\n

Process Improvement & Operational Support

• Evaluate and enhance financial reporting and planning processes for efficiency and automation.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve service levels, and optimize distribution and operations network.

Qualifications & Experience

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
\n
• 3–5+ years of experience in financial or operational analysis supporting supply chain, logistics, or distribution center operations.
\n
• Hands-on experience analyzing distribution center KPIs, including cost per unit (CPU), unit flow, throughput, labor productivity, and capacity utilization.
\n
• Proven ability to analyze and forecast inbound and outbound unit flows across freight and distribution operations.
\n
• Experience performing SKU-level analysis to evaluate productivity, shipment trends, and operational efficiency.
\n
• Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, large data sets, dashboard creation) and experience with Power BI or similar BI tools to build operational dashboards and reporting.
\n
• Strong understanding of distribution, logistics, and inventory flow, including the operational drivers behind cost and efficiency in a DC environment.
\n
• Experience supporting labor tracking and distribution center optimization initiatives, including monitoring labor productivity and cost per unit metrics.
\n
• Ability to translate operational data into actionable insights and communicate findings clearly to cross-functional partners.
\n
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working closely with distribution, logistics, inventory planning, and operations teams.
