Proud to serve. Proud to keep justice going. Overview Our Operations Managers play a crucial role helping deliver justice and are accountable for day‑to‑day operations. About Us HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. We support service users and colleagues within HMCTS, where people and businesses access potentially life‑changing justice. About Your Role The Operations Manager will provide strategic oversight of Crown and Magistrates’ Courts in Staffordshire and Shropshire, within the West Midlands region. You will report to the Deputy Head of Operations within Crime – West Midlands and lead four Delivery Managers and other operational teams to meet service‑level objectives. Regular travel across all court sites and close contact with the judiciary will be required. You will champion organisational change and continuous improvement. About You A resilient and positive leader who thrives on delivering effective and efficient services. You will coach and develop teams, set local priorities and objectives, lead by example and collaborate with other Operations Managers to manage conflicting demands and reprioritise when necessary. Skills and Experience Proven senior operations or management experience, preferably in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment. Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading teams through change. Excellent communication and influencing skills, capable of maintaining relationships at all levels. Experience in budget management and resource allocation. Working Arrangements Full‑time: 37 hours per week, with part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing options where business needs are met. Hybrid working is permitted; however, a minimum of 60% of working time must be spent in an office. The role is office‑based to provide HMCTS services to the public. Location The post can be based at any of the following locations: Stoke Combined Court Centre, Bethesda Street, Hanley, Stoke‑on‑Trent, ST1 3BP Stafford Combined Court Centre, Victoria Square, Stafford, ST16 2QQ Shrewsbury Justice Centre, Preston Street, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY2 5NX Regular travel to court sites in Staffordshire and Shropshire is required.
