Lead Principal Advanced Services Engineer

Salary: $142,000 - 194,000 per year Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in storage engineering, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, high-performance computing, technical consulting, or a related technical field; the minimum qualifications also specify one of these alternatives: 15 years implementing or supporting IT solutions or operations, or a relevant bachelors degree plus 11 years of related experience, or a relevant masters degree plus 9 years of related experience.
• Hands-on expertise with enterprise or high-performance file services and storage platforms, such as NetApp ONTAP, Lustre, NFS, parallel file systems, scale-out NAS, or distributed storage systems.
• Strong Linux, storage, and networking knowledge, including the ability to diagnose performance, reliability, and connectivity issues in distributed systems.
• Experience with large-scale data migration, workload onboarding, performance engineering, benchmarking, capacity planning, and production troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably OCI, and how storage interacts with compute, networking, security, and observability services.
• Ability to work with senior engineering and product leaders, influence without direct authority, and communicate complex technical concepts to technical and executive audiences.
• Relevant experience in areas such as high-performance computing and AI/ML infrastructure; data-intensive analytics, media, or engineering workloads; storage performance and workload characterization; public cloud platforms; data migration, replication, backup, and disaster recovery; or automation, observability, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Preferred qualifications include 16 years of experience implementing or supporting IT solutions or operations, or a relevant bachelors degree plus 12 years of related experience, or a relevant masters degree plus 10 years of related experience.
• Preferred: 2 years in a leadership role, with or without direct reports, and 4 years leading matrix teams or working across technology teams.
• Preferred: IT technical or Oracle product certification, and project management certification such as Certified Associate in Project Management.

• Lead architecture, onboarding, migration, and optimization engagements for mission-critical workloads that rely on enterprise and high-performance storage.
• Investigate complex technical and performance issues across storage, compute, networking, Linux, and application layers, taking them from initial analysis through root-cause identification and resolution.
• Assess customer workload behavior—including I/O patterns, throughput, latency, metadata, concurrency, availability, and capacity needs—and translate findings into production-ready OCI architectures.
• Collaborate with OCI Storage Engineering, Product Management, Compute, Networking, Support, and other teams to resolve customer issues and inform product strategy and roadmap priorities.
• Create reusable technical resources, including reference architectures, migration guidance, blueprints, best practices, technical blogs, troubleshooting methods, and performance guidance.
• Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, identify recurring customer patterns, and drive improvements that benefit customers across OCI.
• Recognize architectural and product gaps across customer engagements and advocate improvements for the broader OCI customer base.
• Move between hands-on troubleshooting, customer architecture reviews, workload migration, engineering collaboration, product influence, and technical thought leadership, including presenting customer trends and product needs to senior leaders.
