Human Resources Specialist
If selected for this position, you will serve as a Human Resources Specialist in the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of California. You will provide a variety of human resources management advisory services in the following functional areas: recruitment and placement, position classification, employee relations and performance management, employee benefits, compensation, and human resources development. Typical work assignments will include:
- Providing management with a wide range of flexible and innovative strategies in administering staffing and placement activities in the District.
- Determining recruitment strategies and creating job announcements.
- Providing advice and assistance on performance management.
- Providing assistance in the administration of benefits programs.
- Administering guidance on pay and leave.
- Identifying training and development needs of employees in the District.
- Providing position classification and position management recommendations.
- Advising on issues involving employee relations.
- Conducting analysis of human resources program operations.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. This position is considered a career ladder opportunity, with a full performance level of GS-11. If selected at a lower grade level, you may be non-competitively promoted to the next grade level at the discretion of your supervisor and is contingent upon meeting regulatory and legal requirements for promotion, satisfactory performance, and the availability of higher-level work.
