Client Account Operations Lead

Summary Client Account Operations Lead – an advanced legal biller responsible for managing high‑volume billing for institutional and high‑profile clients. The role requires analytical skills, prioritization of billing tasks, and subject‑matter expertise in billing processes across domestic and international accounts. Location Austin, TX – hybrid (minimum 3 days per week onsite). Responsibilities Serve as the billing subject‑matter expert for Corporate Practice Group Partners, ensuring accurate and timely billing cycles. Review and prepare domestic and international accrual information, submits accurate billing data in accordance with client requirements. Research and resolve electronic billing rejections and client billing inquiries, maintaining high accuracy rates. Track and resolve ticket requests from the Accounting Service Desk on a daily basis. Collaborate with Legal Support Services, Accounting teams, and other stakeholders to streamline billing and client account services. Conduct process and gap analyses, develop training programs, and mentor staff to improve billing practices and efficiencies. Maintain accurate record of client billing requirements, guidelines, and updates from client general counsel. Define and document functional and system requirements, create process‑flow diagrams, and support cross‑functional project teams. For U.S. clients, manage full billing cycle: review proformas, secure approvals for deferrals, write‑offs, time transfers, and field inquiries. For global clients, coordinate unified billing, manage global client account assignments, produce LEDES files, and generate complex monthly reporting. Provide temporary managerial support and act as a quality analyst, coaching junior specialists and handling escalation. Qualifications 5+ years of senior‑level legal billing experience, preferably at a major law firm. Extensive knowledge of Aderant Legal Billing and Bill Blast; proficiency in e‑billing systems such as e‑Hub. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with demonstrated ability to identify process improvements. Excellent communication, written and verbal; capable of interacting with attorneys, finance counterparts, and other stakeholders. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (lookup, pivot tables, advanced formulas). Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent deadlines, and prioritize assignments efficiently. Educational background: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
