Nurse Extern PRN

Overview Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is a comprehensive healthcare provider dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the community through advanced medical services and compassionate care. We are seeking a Nurse Extern PRN to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department and support our nursing team in delivering exceptional, patient‑centered care. Responsibilities Assist with basic patient care activities such as vital signs, hygiene, mobility, intake and output monitoring, and comfort measures. Observe and learn core nursing processes including assessments, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Maintain a safe, clean, and healing environment and follow infection prevention and patient safety protocols. Support patients and families with clear, compassionate communication. Collaborate closely with RNs, physicians, and other members of the care team to contribute to individualized care plans. Promptly report changes in patient condition and ensure timely escalation of concerns. Participate in educational opportunities and skills development, actively seeking feedback. Qualifications This role is ideal for nursing students who want to apply classroom knowledge to real‑world patient care, strengthen clinical judgment, and build confidence at the bedside. Experience with electronic health records and understanding of quality and safety initiatives is advantageous but not mandatory.
