Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Outpatient Surgery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: California state license required; pending license accepted Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Flexible schedule is essential, as start times may vary from 06:00 to 08:30. Nurses scheduled for PACU are expected to stay and complete their shift. Experience in outpatient surgery is preferred. Experience with charting systems, especially Epic, is preferred. Description: The position involves working in the outpatient preoperative and post-anesthesia care unit. The typical workweek consists of Monday through Friday with no weekends or holidays. Patient diagnoses include all outpatient surgeries across various specialties such as general, orthopedic, and urology. Daily patient census is approximately 10, handled in a 4-room setting with no inpatient beds. Responsibilities include administering preoperative assessments, providing pre-op education, and monitoring patients during recovery phases. The nurse will be involved in pain assessment and management, medication reconciliation, and discharging patients with proper instructions. Traveling nurses may be expected to float between nearby facilities if necessary. Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays each year. References covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required prior to start. Candidates who have previously worked for the same organization as a permanent employee or on a travel contract should specify this in their application.
