We are currently partnered with a rapidly growing business advisory, interim management, and investment banking firm headquartered in Chicago to hire an experienced Interim Director of Accounting & Finance . This is a contract position providing leadership coverage during a maternity leave.

The organization has grown annual revenue from approximately $52.8 million to $250 million, operates across multiple U.S. entities, and is expanding internationally, including a recently established office in India.

Position Summary

The Interim Director of Accounting & Finance will lead the day to day accounting and finance function while partnering closely with the CEO, practice leaders, and other members of executive leadership. This individual will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting expertise, experience leading finance functions within a high growth organization, and a background supporting private equity backed professional services companies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting and finance operations across multiple entities
• Partner with the CEO and executive leadership on financial planning and business decisions
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
• Review financial reporting packages for accuracy and timely completion
• Ensure year end financial statements and supporting schedules are audit ready
• Strengthen internal controls and financial reporting processes
• Oversee treasury, payroll, and employee expense reimbursement functions
• Partner with Data Analytics teams on quarterly bonus and incentive compensation calculations
• Identify and implement accounting process improvements
• Support automation and AI related efficiency initiatives
• Improve expense reporting and operational finance workflows
• Coordinate international finance activities with the India based team
• Lead and mentor accounting staff
• Collaborate with practice leaders and teams across the organization

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• At least eight years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Experience leading accounting and finance operations
• Professional services, financial services, consulting, or investment banking experience
• Private equity backed company experience, including sponsor reporting and stakeholder communication
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls
• Experience supporting a high growth, multi entity organization
• Ability to step into an interim leadership role and manage competing priorities
