Director of Financial Planning & AnalysisNew YorkWe're seeking a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to join us in our mission to transform the discovery of therapeutics and materials.As a leader of our Finance team, you'll partner with the Schrödinger Therapeutics Group (STG), owning that division's annual plan, forecasts, long-range planning, management reporting, strategic analysis, translating complex financial and operational information into recommendations and actions. You'll also manage and develop two reports.Who Will Love This Job:A strategic thinker who can connect financial performance, operating priorities, and long-term business objectivesA credible, collaborative business partner who can use their high standards of integrity, accuracy, ownership, and attention to detail to build trust with executives, functional leaders, and finance colleaguesAn exceptional verbal and written communicator who enjoys synthesizing complex analysis into concise, executive-ready insightsA hands-on leader who moves comfortably between high-level strategy and detailed financial analysisA commercially-minded problem-solver who anticipates business needs, challenges assumptions, and recommends practical solutionsA people manager who's committed to developing talent, raising team capabilities, and creating accountabilityWhat You'll Do:Develop an integrated vision for STG's financial outlook, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, headcount, and key business driversLead monthly and quarterly performance reviews, identifying underlying variance drivers, emerging risks and opportunities, and delivery requirements for financial commitmentsPrepare clear, concise, and executive-ready analysis and presentations for STG leadershipBuild models to support portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and product decisionsEstablish and monitor meaningful financial and operational KPIs that connect strategy with executionCollaborate with stakeholders across the company, especially Accounting during the monthly and quarterly close processStrengthen forecast accuracy, cost transparency, and financial accountability among business leaders and budget ownersImprove FP&A tools, reporting, data quality, planning processes, automation, and AI adoptionRepresent STG within the broader Finance organizationWhat You Should Have:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline (MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred)At least ten years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, corporate finance, or divisional finance leadershipSubstantial experience with the cultivation of finance professionals, including direct people managementRobust proficiency with spreadsheets and experience with enterprise planning, reporting, and business intelligence toolsWe'd Prefer To Hire Someone Who Has:Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare, or another research- or innovation-driven industryFamiliarity with the financial and operational dynamics of scientific R&D, product development, commercialization, licensing, partnerships, or portfolio investmentA background in public-company, global, or matrixed environmentsPay and Perks:Schrödinger understands it's people that make a company great. Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
