PRN, 630a - 4pm at Windy Hill HospitalFunctions under the direction of the Site Manager. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of clinical procedures requiring independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The registered nurse is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The nurse is responsible for providing patient care with an understanding and awareness of age specific needs. Addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and patient/family education needs in providing care to the patient and family. The nurse is able to independently perform job functions.Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Clinical SkillsCompletion of V-ARU competenciesProvide pre and post procedure care of patients for invasive, interventional and surgical proceduresAble to use critical thinking skillsAble to deliver patient care in complex, multiple problem patient care situationsPrepares and may administer contrast. Understands preparation/administration of doses according to patients weight and physician orderAdministers conscious sedation per system policy and procedurePreps the patient for procedureDemonstrates and understands sterile techniqueDemonstrates and understands IV administration competence and maintenancePrepares trays and catheters for procedureJob ResponsibilitiesMust be flexible with hours to meet department needsAble to work scheduled and On-Call hours if necessaryKnows existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable, cooperative and emotionally stable.Introduces self to patient and/or guardian upon entering room utilizing proper scriptingTransports patients as neededProvides privacy and comfort for patient/customersAssists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and Performance ImprovementCompletes necessary paperworkAnswers department phone using proper scriptingCompletes chart reviews as neededPerforms QA/QC functions as neededAssists in other Medical Imaging areas and as needed in other departments in the system, system widerMaintain current successful completion of BLS and ACLSUnderstands Scope of Service for Vascular Institute, VARU and Medical ImagingAssist in inservice/training for other Medical Imaging staff as appropriateReviews case with the appropriate physician(s) as neededRecognizes that total patient care starts when the patient arrives at our facility and ends when the physician/patient have the imaging resultsMeets Service Recovery and Customer Service Guidelines as neededReviews the case with appropriate physician(s) as neededCoordinates daily schedule of patientsMaintains checking the crash cart in assigned Medical Imaging areasQuality and Patient SafetyVerifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, ie. Armband, DOB, verbal identificationVerifies front of patient chart for same/similar name stickerVerifies Written Order, seeks clarification if unclearUnderstands and complies with verbal order RBAC and performs necessary follow-up with written orderUses and understands preprocedural verification/time out form when appropriateUnderstands and complies with site/side marking when indicatedPatient EducationResponsible for patient, family/support system educationProvide post procedural home care instructions as neededPerforms other duties as assignedComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.Required Minimum Education:Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-PreferredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor or ACLS-P - ACLS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 DaysBLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - InstructorRN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state CompactRequired Minimum Experience:Minimum of 3 years experience in Interventional Radiology.
