Print Designer

Proenza Schouler is seeking a creative and highly organized Print & Pattern Designer to lead seasonal print, color, embroidery, and graphic development from concept through production. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Design, and production teams while managing artwork, color standards, supplier communication, and seasonal archives. Responsibilities Seasonal Print & Artwork Development Partner with the Creative Director and Design team to develop the print and artwork direction for each collection. Research and develop seasonal print concepts informed by the collection's overall inspiration, color direction, and visual language. Create original artwork through a combination of hand-drawn, painted, collaged, and digital techniques. Prepare technical artwork packages, pitch sheets, layouts, and files for mills and suppliers. Manage artwork revisions and troubleshoot color issues throughout the development process to ensure final files meet production specifications. Take ownership of projects from initial concept through final execution while managing multiple deadlines simultaneously. Develop all-over repeats, engineered prints, placements, borders, stripes, graphics, and other textile artwork, including artwork for towels, jacquards, yarn-dyes and more. Develop artwork for Main Line, White Label, Accessories, and special projects. Create embroideries and custom layouts across all departments. Work with atelier on embroidery layouts and execution of samples, especially as it relates to alterations and tasks around a seasonal show. Develop branded trims, including packaging, button bags, hangtags, ect. Partner closely with the Creative Director and Design team to establish and develop seasonal color palettes. Responsible for executing and distributing the physical and digital copies to all departments. Maintain and manage updates to the seasonal color palettes across the collection. Develop colorways for prints, jacquards, embroideries, and other surface applications. Create accurate digital color-ups and color presentations for design reviews. Work with Pantone and CSI standards to communicate color accurately to mills and suppliers. Review and approve lab dips, strike-offs, and color submissions with Fabric Manager, providing clear and concise color comments. Ensure consistency of color across artwork, materials, and the broader seasonal collection. Seasonal Graphic Content, Organization, Archives & Management Create seasonal ML Lexicon decks, including some in-house photography that's used for the content of the document. Partner with local printers to execute collection books, special projects and other communication materials. Maintain organized seasonal print, artwork, and color libraries. Build and maintain a digital archive of artwork, colorways, references, and final production files. Maintain seasonal print and color boards and ensure information remains current throughout development. Communicate artwork launches, track artwork, color development and revisions against seasonal deadlines and calendars. Help establish and maintain an efficient system for managing artwork across multiple seasons and categories. Hire, manage and mentor a seasonal print intern to support with all responsibilities. Qualifications 5+ years in print, textile, surface, or fashion design, preferably contemporary/luxury. Bachelor's degree in Fashion, Textile Design, or related field preferred. Strong expertise in print development, textile applications, repeats, placements, and colorways. Advanced Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign skills. Excellent eye for color, scale, composition, proportion, and placement. Skilled in hand and digital artwork, including drawing, painting, collage, and image manipulation. Experienced with color-ups, garment applications, textile artwork, strike-offs, lab dips, and supplier communication. Strong knowledge of textile printing processes and production requirements. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines. Collaborative communicator who works effectively with design, development, production, and suppliers. Strong understanding of the Proenza Schouler aesthetic and contemporary fashion. Creative, proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn and grow. Comfortable working independently and in a fast-paced, five-day in-office environment. The targeted base salary range for this role is $80,000-$90,000. Actual salary offered may be outside of this range based on factors such as, relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
