Schedule: Monday–Friday, with evenings and weekends as needed

Reports to the: Executive Director

Duties & Responsibilities

Events & Rentals

• Plan, coordinate, promote, and support annual and new DABG events, including marketing booths and community events.

• Manage all DABG facility and wedding bookings, including maintaining the online booking system and managing bookings several years in advance.

• Meet with prospective renters to tour facilities and explain available rental options.

• Coordinate event logistics and work with the Volunteer & Intern Coordinator to secure volunteer support as needed.

• Assist and guide event setup and teardown, including occasional evenings and weekends.

• Develop and maintain relationships with exhibitors, travel agencies, event partners, and other organizations to increase tourism and event opportunities at DABG.

• Work with local tourism organizations and agencies to promote DABG as a destination and provide tourism event opportunities.

• Monitor and work toward established sales, marketing, and revenue goals

Marketing & Communications

• Develop and manage the DABG brand across publications, social media, the website, handouts, signage, and other marketing materials.

• Manage and grow DABG social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.

• Maintain and update the DABG website and online content when needed.

• Create and distribute the quarterly newsletter.

• Promote DABG events and programs through local, regional, and tourism calendars.

• Coordinate paid and unpaid advertising opportunities to maximize marketing reach and available resources.

• Provide the Executive Director with marketing materials and grant support as needed.

• Manage branding and marketing materials throughout the DABG grounds.

• Manage and maintain the DABG STQRY tour app and related content.

• Analyze marketing and social media data and connect results to attendance, event participation, and earned revenue goals.

• Monitor the marketing budget and provide recommendations to ensure funds are used effectively.

Memberships, Sponsorships & Fundraising

• Develop and maintain relationships with business sponsors, donors, community partners, and other supporters.

• Maintain engagement with our membership database and email subscriber list.

• Recruit and retain DABG members and help grow the organization's membership program.

• Develop and maintain a strong business sponsorship program.

• Identify and secure sponsors and donors for events and other DABG needs.

• Lead DABG donation mailings and assist with planning and promoting annual fundraising events.

Gift Shop & Visitor Services

• Lead gift shop purchasing, merchandising, layout, and inventory management for Root & Petal.

• Enter and maintain gift shop inventory in the appropriate software system.

• Assist with weekly deposits and provide support for tours and guest services as needed.

Other Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Director, staff, and volunteers with special projects and organizational needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field preferred.

• Previous experience in event planning, marketing, communications, tourism, nonprofit work, or a related field preferred.

• Experience managing social media platforms.

• Experience with databases and customer or membership management systems.

• Experience with online booking and reservation systems.

• Experience with inventory management and inventory software.

• Experience with credit card processing and point-of-sale systems.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.

• Experience with graphic design and with digital and creative tools such as Canva, Adobe, ChatGPT, CapCut, WordPress, or similar platforms.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• This position involves prolonged periods of sitting and performing office-based duties.

• Outside work and visits to the DABG grounds will be required, including during events and special projects.

• Evening and weekend hours will occasionally be required to support events, rentals, and organizational needs.

• Occasional extended hours may be necessary to meet deadlines or support special events.

• Event setup and teardown may require bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.

• Must be capable of safely operating a golf cart or DABG work vehicle.

• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions when supporting outdoor events and activities.

The Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens (DABG) were established in 1980 and comprise 56 acres. Admission is free, and the grounds are open year-round from 7 a.m. to dusk, welcoming around 100,000 visitors from all over the world each year.
