Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse provides direct patient care within a mental health setting, supporting treatment plans, medication education, and emotional observations. They collaborate with clinical teams and serve as a mentor for staff and educational groups.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized patient care plans.
• Participate in weekly clinical staffing and review patient treatment strategies.
• Educate patients and families on medication management and mental health topics.
• Monitor and document patients' emotional and mental states, reporting significant observations.
• Lead teaching and educational groups according to the APU schedule.
• Train LPNs and MHTs in charting, vital signs, patient routines, and de-escalation techniques.
• Actively participate in PI teams or unit task forces.
• Fulfill educational or marketing assignments as directed by the Manager.
• Maintain up-to-date Therapeutic Options certification.
• Serve as a positive role model in language, attire, hygiene, and professional behavior.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric experience required.
• De-escalation training preferred.
• Valid state RN license.
• Certifications such as NIHBLS (AHA) required.
• Recent traveler experience preferred.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
