Financial Analyst

UB Greensfelder is seeking a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst supports firm leadership by delivering insightful financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting that enhances decision-making across the organization. This role goes beyond standard variance analysis, focusing on building scalable, value-added reporting that improves visibility into attorney performance, profitability, and operational efficiency. The Analyst will work closely with the Senior Financial Analyst and Director of Finance to translate financial data into actionable insights.

Position responsibilities include:

• Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, including headcount, revenue, and expense projections.
• Assist with attorney compensation analyses, including performance metrics, trend analysis, and benchmarking.
• Perform profitability analysis at the matter, client, practice group, and attorney levels (e.g., realization, utilization, leverage, rate performance).
• Develop and maintain financial reports and dashboards that highlight drivers of performance.
• Provide ad hoc financial analyses and reporting in response to management and leadership requests.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and clarity across all reporting outputs.
• Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify trends, risks, and opportunities embedded in financial data.
• Partner with operational and legal teams to understand business needs and tailor analyses accordingly.
• Proactively suggest improvements to reporting, processes, and data usage.
• Work with financial and practice management systems to extract, validate, and analyze data.
• Assist with technical integrations between financial systems, time and billing platforms, and reporting tools.
• Document reporting logic and assumptions to support scalability and continuity.
• Other finance duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualified applicants will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of financial analysis experience; professional services or law firm experience preferred.
• Strong Excel skills; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to think analytically, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate findings effectively.
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
