Senior Manager, Critical Response

As Senior Manager, Global Critical Response, you’ll lead an experienced global team responsible for investigating and responding to our most critical, complex and urgent safety cases, helping ensure we respond with care, consistency and sound judgement when the stakes are highest.

You’ll set the strategy and strengthen the operational effectiveness of our Critical Response function globally, ensuring our people, processes, expertise and escalation mechanisms are ready for an evolving safety landscape. You’ll collaborate across Trust & Safety, Policy, Product, Engineering, Legal, Communications and Partnerships, while building trusted relationships with law enforcement, non-profits, government bodies and other external partners. You’ll champion Bumble values including Courage and Respect by making thoughtful decisions in high-pressure situations, empowering your team to learn and take ownership, and exploring responsible ways AI can strengthen operational insight, preparedness and effectiveness while keeping human judgement at the centre of sensitive safety decisions.

What You’ll Do

• Own the strategy, operational objectives and performance of our global Critical Response function, translating emerging safety risks and longer-term priorities into clear plans, measures of success and scalable operating practices.

• Lead, coach and empower a globally distributed team of experienced professionals, creating an inclusive culture of Courage, Respect, sound judgement and continuous learning while ensuring effective coverage, capacity planning and operational readiness across US, UK and Australia time zones.

• Strengthen Critical Response and law enforcement operations by evolving investigation processes, escalation pathways, decision frameworks, training, quality standards and incident preparedness for urgent, sensitive and high-risk cases.

• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex, sensitive and novel incidents, collaborating with purpose across Policy, Product, Legal, Engineering and Communications to navigate ambiguity, align stakeholders and see responses through from insight to impact.

• Build meaningful measures of operational health and use Trust & Safety risk analytics, case trends and quality insights to identify emerging threats, recurring harms and operational gaps, translating those insights into improvements across policy, product, tooling and operations.

• Partner with Product and Engineering to reimagine the tools and capabilities that support investigations and critical incident management, identifying responsible opportunities to use AI and automation to improve speed, consistency and insight while protecting privacy, assessing outputs for bias and accuracy, and preserving human oversight for consequential decisions.

• Strengthen relationships with law enforcement, non-profits, government agencies and other relevant external stakeholders, partnering with Partnerships to evolve outreach programs and build understanding of Bumble’s platforms, safety practices and Critical Response capabilities.

• Establish mechanisms for case review, knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement, taking ownership of lessons from major incidents and adapting plans with an agile mindset so that emerging technologies, behaviours and threat landscapes continually inform Bumble’s broader safety ecosystem.

About You

• Typically requires 8+ years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills.

• You bring substantial experience in global Trust & Safety, investigations, crisis or critical incident response, law enforcement operations, risk management or a related field, with deep experience navigating complex and highly sensitive escalations.

• You have experience building trusted partnerships with law enforcement, government agencies, non-profits or other external safety organisations and can represent operational perspectives clearly and credibly with external stakeholders.

• You’re an experienced people leader who has developed high-performing teams, ideally across multiple regions or time zones, and you lead with Respect while creating clarity, accountability and opportunities for others to grow.

• You bring strong expertise in escalation management and operational process design, with experience building scalable workflows, governance, quality standards, preparedness practices and performance frameworks that enable consistent decision-making.

• You use data and operational insights to move from investigation to action, identifying patterns and root causes and seeing improvements through from insight to measurable impact; experience using Trust & Safety risk analytics or similar approaches is valuable.

• You collaborate with purpose and can influence senior stakeholders across disciplines such as Legal, Policy, Product, Engineering and Communications, communicating complex and sensitive issues clearly while adapting your approach as circumstances change.

• You’re curious about how AI can improve safety operations and team effectiveness, and you can champion responsible adoption within your team — identifying valuable use cases, testing what works, protecting sensitive data and privacy, assessing outputs critically for accuracy and bias, and applying human judgement and accountability to final decisions.
