Labor Law Enforcement Officer I, II, III

Summary Statement As a Labor Law Enforcement Officer, you will perform labor standards and civil rights work that requires the application of state and federal labor standards, civil rights laws, regulations, and precedent legal decisions. Your responsibilities include conducting case intakes, investigations, resolving cases through mediation and negotiations, preparing settlement agreements, and preparing cases for litigation before state boards or court. You protect workers, educate employers, eliminate illegal employment practices, and remove barriers to equal opportunity in employment. Essential Functions Investigate and resolve complaints and enforce various state labor standards and civil rights laws. Advise employers, employees, attorneys, and other interested parties on the applicability and interpretation of the laws and on filing procedures. Gather, examine, and interpret data such as payroll, medical, and other records to determine amounts due; collect wages and benefits if applicable. Participate in annual prevailing wage surveys of contractors and provide prevailing wage determinations to governmental entities, contractors, architects, and contracting agencies. Prepare case summaries, reports, and correspondence; maintain records of complaints received and disposition of cases. Keep abreast of changes in the law and new interpretations; attend training seminars or conferences. Job Requirements – Labor Law Enforcement Officer I Bachelor’s degree or higher that includes coursework in conducting studies, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and studying laws, rules, or regulations. OR Six months’ experience conducting investigations, including interviews to obtain confidential information, gathering evidence, and documenting findings. Six months’ experience resolving labor law or employment discrimination complaints. Six months’ experience interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Six months’ experience in narrative report writing. Job Requirements – Labor Law Enforcement Officer II One year’s experience conducting investigations, including interviews to obtain confidential information, gathering evidence, and documenting findings. Six months’ experience resolving labor law or employment discrimination complaints. Six months’ experience interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Six months’ experience in narrative report writing. Job Requirements – Labor Law Enforcement Officer III Three years’ experience conducting investigations, including interviews to obtain confidential information, gathering evidence, and documenting findings. Three years’ experience resolving labor law or employment discrimination complaints. Three years’ experience interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Two years’ experience developing and conducting staff training. Two years’ experience in narrative report writing.
