Position: Environmental Scientist Location: White Plains, NY Remote Status: On‑Site Job Id: 1539-122-2026 # of Openings: 1 Tectonic is currently seeking a full‑time Environmental Scientist to work on various projects based in White Plains, NY. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of this position will include traveling to various job sites and utilizing necessary field equipment to complete asbestos and lead investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, site investigations, remedial investigations, phase I and phase II environmental site assessments, receptor evaluations, and related remediation tasks. Essential functions also include the preparation of detailed, concise, and accurate field reports, technical report writing, communicating with project managers, contractors, client representatives and colleagues, performing research, communicating required information for and assisting with various analyses of data using various software, as well as all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS BS Degree or equivalent in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar 2-6 years of relevant experience; experience conducting phase I and phase II environmental site assessments required Experience with asbestos, lead, and hazardous material is a plus This position requires obtaining OSHA safety training within a reasonable period of time upon commencement of employment Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the company in a professional manner Must have strong organizational skills Functional computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Nitro/Adobe or similar PDF suite, as well as ability to utilize various software programs, time reporting systems, and other related computer applications; GIS software experience is a plus Open availability for work outside of typical business hours for projects that require alternate working hours Requires a valid, acceptable driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to project sites, as regular daily travel may be required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the essential functions, the employee is frequently required to move around the job site and inspect, observe, move, operate, and/or transport documents, materials and/or field testing equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 27 lbs. The employee is constantly working in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, biological hazards conditions and sometimes working in the office environment. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients both orally and in writing through corporate communication systems, and occasionally operate a computer and related office machinery such as printers, and fax machines. This position also requires frequent operation of a motor‑vehicle, which sometimes may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time. Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing, Hazwoper Physical, medical surveillance program, respirator clearance, and use of appropriate respirator as per project requirements.
