Position Summary

The Childcare Provider supports The Birth Squad's mission by offering safe, nurturing, and responsive care to infants and young children during programming at the Denver Village. This role allows birthing people and their families to fully engage in Birth Squad groups, classes, and events knowing their children are in caring, capable hands. This is a non-clinical, contract position.

About The Birth Squad / COPMHP

Perinatal depression is the most common complication of pregnancy and the postpartum period — affecting approximately 1 in 7 birthing people and women in Colorado. For birthing people and women of color, it is more common. Help in our communities can be hard to find and hard to access.

The Birth Squad Program — operating under the Colorado Perinatal Mental Health Project (COPMHP) — removes those barriers and provides immediate, community-based access to mental health supports. We offer support groups, individual therapy, a prenatal cohort program, mama meetups, and trauma-informed groups for survivors. All services are offered at no cost to participants across the Denver Metro area.

Strong Candidates for This Position

• Have experience caring for infants and young children, including newborns
• Are warm, calm, and nurturing — able to create a safe and comfortable environment for babies and young children
• Understand the sensitivity of the perinatal period and can interact with families with compassion and discretion
• Are reliable, punctual, and communicative
• Are comfortable working independently and using good judgment in childcare settings
• Demonstrate appreciation for diversity and are comfortable working with families from a wide range of backgrounds
• Are passionate about supporting the wellbeing of women, birthing people, and their families

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must pass a comprehensive background check
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (infant and child)
• Experience in early childhood care, including newborn care
• Must have your own mobile phone for Birth Squad-related communication
• Reliable transportation to the Denver Village location

Expectations

• Commit to 8-10 hours per week, with scheduling aligned to Birth Squad programming
• Provide attentive, nurturing care to infants and young children (newborns and up) during Birth Squad groups, classes, and events at the Denver Village
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized childcare space
• Communicate any concerns about a child's wellbeing to program staff promptly
• Maintain participant confidentiality and adhere to Birth Squad standards at all times
• Participate in a brief onboarding process prior to beginning the position

Benefits

Pay and Benefits The Childcare Provider position pays $25 per hour, paid monthly. This is a non-benefited contract position.
