For additional information about the College’s programs, visit its webpage at: Department Information : The Department of Psychology at California State University, Bakersfield offers undergraduate and graduate education that prepares students for careers and advanced study in psychology and behavioral health. The M.S. in Counseling Psychology is a three-year professional training program designed to prepare students for licensure as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs). A distinguishing feature of the program is the University Counselor Training Clinic (UCTC), which provides high-quality counseling services to the community while serving as an integrated clinical training environment for graduate students. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, CSUB is committed to excellence in teaching, culturally responsive clinical practice, community engagement, and the preparation of ethical, competent mental health professionals. Position Description: The Department of Psychologyat California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester.This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Thispoolwill be closed effective May 31, 2027. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the newpoolas it becomes available by June 15, 2027. Minimum Qualifications: Master's or doctoral degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related behavioral health discipline. Current California licensure in good standing as one of the following: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Psychologist Meets all current California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) qualifications to supervise trainees and associates, including required supervision training and continuing education. Minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience providing psychotherapy and behavioral health services. Demonstrated knowledge of California BBS laws and regulations, legal and ethical standards, and supervision best practices. Experience providing culturally responsive mental health services to diverse populations. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience supervising master's-level counseling trainees or associates. Experience teaching graduate-level counseling courses. Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation. Expertise in one or more specialty areas such as trauma, family therapy, child and adolescent counseling, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, assessment, or integrated behavioral health. Rank and Salary: Lecturer.Anticipated salary range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Full-time equivalent salary ranges are as follows (amounts prorated for part-time assignments): Background Check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed. Offers of employment are conditional and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. Education Code 89521 Requirements: Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last seven years, only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended. Applicants who reach the final stages of the application process must sign a release form that authorizes the release of information by the applicant’s current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct. Authorization to Work: Employment is contingent upon US residence and proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Sponsorship: CSUB is not a sponsoring agency for temporary positions and is not an E-Verify employer. Out of State Employment: Per CSU-wide policy, all faculty who will begin initial employment (or return from a 12-month break in service) on or after January 1, 2022 are required to perform their work from within the State of California. Unit 3 assignments include in-person duties that require an on-campus presence. Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. The person will also have a duty to report to the Campus Title IX Officer information pertaining to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct or exploitation, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation under the CSU Interim Nondiscrimination Policy. Clery Act: CSUB's annual crime report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus centers, such as our Antelope Valley Satellite Campus, and on property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from CSUB. The report also includes policies concerning security on campus, such as alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, reporting crimes, sexual assault, and other subjects. Additionally, a daily log of offenses is maintained and can be reviewed at the front desk of the Department of Public Safety.
