Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Trauma Tele) night shift position in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of experience and active medical telemetry skills.

Details

• Work setting is a 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry (Trauma Tele) unit within a large, Level II trauma center and Magnet®-designated hospital
• Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• 13-week contract
• Night shift RN-to-patient ratio is 1:6/7
• Night shift is staffed with 1 charge nurse, 7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 0.5 HUC, and 1–2 sitters per grid
• Unit uses medical remote telemetry monitoring, Cerner Patient Observation (CPO), and VC150s in every patient room
• EMR: Cerner
• Floating required to sister Med/Surg units: 3W, 5W, and K8
• Must sign up for 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday count as weekend shifts on night shift)
• Unit prepares patients for Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology (IR), and OR procedures

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for Tele RNs
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Active medical telemetry experience required
• SSN (US only, no Canadian) and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• CMSRN certification is encouraged but not required
• Charge nurse or leadership experience is preferred
• BSN is preferred
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue top and bottom, white top with navy blue bottom, or all white
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• The hospital is a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center serving as the regional referral hub
