Accounting Associate

Accounting Associate Dana-co, a women's intimate apparel company, is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our finance team. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on accounting experience in a small or midsize company who enjoys managing day-to-day transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting a variety of accounting functions. The Accounting Associate will work closely with members of the finance team in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Because we operate with a lean team, the successful candidate will be organized, flexible, and comfortable assisting wherever needed. This is a strong opportunity for someone seeking stability and long-term growth within an in-house accounting department. Location Midtown Manhattan, near the Empire State Building. This is an in-office position. Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Responsibilities Process and accurately record routine accounting transactions. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper approval. Prepare and maintain accounting schedules, spreadsheets, and financial records. Reconcile bank, credit card, vendor, and other assigned accounts. Research and help resolve discrepancies in accounts, invoices, and payments. Assist with journal entries and month-end closing activities. Support the preparation of internal financial reports and audit documentation. Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting files. Perform data entry and provide administrative support to the finance department. Communicate with internal departments and external vendors regarding accounting matters. Handle confidential financial information with discretion and integrity. Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as needed. Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. One to three years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or similar experience. Experience working within a small or midsize company is strongly preferred. Basic understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and organizing financial data. Experience using accounting or ERP software; QuickBooks or similar system experience is a plus. Strong numerical skills and the ability to identify discrepancies. High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Willingness to perform both detailed accounting work and routine administrative tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
