Purpose of the Job

Manages daily operations in the dairy and frozen food departments. Increases customer trust and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operational conditions. Offers fresh and attractive products, courteous, knowledgeable, and fast service. Executes marketing plans as described in department planners, toolkits, or event packages, taking into account marketing standards, product levels, losses, and sales trends. Supervises, trains, and develops team members in their job performance and provides training and feedback as needed. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by accepting team members' backgrounds and experiences. This is a job management position that requires a balance between physical work, delegation, team building and leadership, planning, and administrative work.

Essential Responsibilities

SERVICE: 60%

Helps create an environment that allows customers to feel welcomed, important, and appreciated to help build and retain customer trust and loyalty. Ensures that the department is marketed according to plan. Offers daily conditions that meet company expectations in terms of product availability, freshness, quality, and shelf value. Trains department associates on freshness, product rotation, inventory levels, storage, including POG integrity maintenance and shelf price tags/signage, orders, and refrigerator/freezer conditioning. Offers customers assistance in finding or suggesting products.

LEADERSHIP: 20%

Helps promote trust and respect among associates through collaboration, promotion of teamwork, and communication of specific company, department, and job information. Sets goals for marketing, sales, and profits and empowers the team to meet or exceed goals. Develops an appropriate schedule to manage customer volume throughout operating hours. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.

FINANCIAL: 10%

Ensures that department sales goals and shrinkage results are met. Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks (emails, online training, scheduling, price changes, orders, etc.). Maintains knowledge of inventory/storage conditions and reports any inventory discrepancies. Reviews/inspects product quality and freshness and takes appropriate action with those items. Helps in planning and organizing the inventory process. Ensures that the product is kept at the appropriate temperature according to food safety guidelines and maintains temperature log records as per policy.

COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10%

Ensures that company standards are maintained in terms of safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity. Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements related to food safety, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and country of origin labeling (COOL) and Department of Agriculture (DOA). Executes all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner, while ensuring that all items are protected and removed from customer access. Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and inspecting and identifying unsafe conditions to report to store management. Notifies store management of customer or employee accidents. Reports all safety hazards or problems and illegal activities, including theft, theft, or fraud. Ensures compliance with wage and hour policies and regulations. Cultivates a safety culture within the store. Ensures that you and all associates work safely and have received necessary safety training. Ensures that hazard assessments are posted for associate reference and that personal protective equipment is available and used by all associates performing tasks within the department, as needed. Ensures that equipment is in good condition; reports and helps with remediation (e.g., blocking/tagging equipment) of safety hazards within the department.

• Proficiency in computer applications used to effectively operate the department.
• Possession of Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of placement.

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk on various types of flooring, use manual dexterity, speak, see, hear, smell, and perform repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet.

Occasionally required to sit, maintain balance, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb up to 10 feet.

Work Conditions:

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee may be exposed to working in indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heating, and humidity conditions.

Safety Risk Factors :

Frequently required to turn back and/or neck, walk on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, work with dangerous equipment, and be exposed to sharp objects.

Occasionally required to be exposed to loud noises, skin irritants, annoying dust, fumes, and aerosols, hazardous cleaning solutions, and other toxins.
