Title: Psychologist II (Part time) State Role Title: Psych II/Psychology Assoc II Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience Pay Band: NV 5 Agency: Dept Behavioral Health/Develop Location: Northern VA Mental Health Inst Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI) is a 134-bed state psychiatric hospital located in Northern Virginia. As a unit staff psychologist for individuals hospitalized with serious and persistent mental illness, the employee will provide a full range of psychological services focusing on behavior management and modification. Responsibilities include: Serving as an integral member of a multidisciplinary treatment team Assessing individuals’ psychological stability and needs Leading in the formulation of meaningful treatment plans Providing group and individual therapies Developing and supervising behavioral interventions Conducting and interpreting psychological testing and writing practical, user-friendly reports Conducting forensic mental health evaluations and writing thorough reports for courts and state forensic mental health boards Providing psychological consultation and education to hospital staff Participating in program development Training and supervision in forensic psychology will be provided. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and successful completion of an internship accredited by the American Psychological Association or Association of Psychology Postdoctoral Internship Centers Demonstrated knowledge and experience developing behavioral plans and/or behavioral treatment plans Additional considerations: Experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Moral Resonation Therapy strongly preferred Previous experience in inpatient settings and in forensic mental health treatment strongly preferred VA license as a Clinical Psychologist Benefits Qualified candidates will be offered a benefits package that includes paid holidays, paid leave, health, and life insurance benefits.
