Job Description

The Material Handler operates forklifts and yard tractors to safely move materials throughout a clean, temperature-controlled food manufacturing facility. This role focuses on loading and unloading shipments, transporting raw materials and finished goods between departments, and maintaining accurate inventory flow to keep production lines running smoothly. The Material Handler follows strict safety and GMP standards while collaborating closely with production and warehouse teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate rear-wheel steering forklifts and yard tractors to safely and efficiently transport materials within the facility.
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper handling, placement, and secure storage of products.
• Move raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods between production, warehouse, and other internal departments.
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance checks on forklifts to ensure safe and optimal performance.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, GMP regulations, and facility procedures while operating equipment and handling materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and accessible work area, keeping aisles, docks, and storage locations free of obstructions.
• Coordinate material movements with production supervisors, warehouse personnel, and other team members to support production schedules.
• Communicate clearly with team members to provide updates on material availability and ensure production lines remain stocked with required raw materials.
• Use RF scanners, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to pick, pack, load, and unload orders as needed.
• Assist with inventory activities, including counting materials, verifying quantities, and monitoring expiration dates.
• Handle general labor tasks related to shipping, receiving, packaging, and order picking to support overall warehouse operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with yard tractors and their safe operation is a plus.
• Experience in production, order picking, picking and packing, and packaging operations.
• Experience with reach trucks and general forklift operating in warehouse or manufacturing settings.
• Bilingual communication skills are a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hopkins, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
