Assistant Coach – Track and Field HB Lee MS Job Details Job ID: 5507718 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jan 22, 2026 8:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Part Time Job Summary Position is responsible for assisting with organizing the Track and Field program at the assigned school. The role involves conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques. Essential Duties Assist in instructing students in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities and exercises. Assess participants’ skills, monitor students during competition and practice, and keep the head coach informed of athletic performance. Assist in determining game strategy. Supervise athletes during practices and competition. Follow established procedures in the event of an injury. Model sports‑like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward students, officials, and spectators. Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security. Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed. Assist with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season. Participate in special activities including parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and assemblies. Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data, and other related records. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Other Duties Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director & Principal or other appropriate administrator. Minimum Qualifications Some experience as an assistant track and field coach at the K-12 or college level preferred. Possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Possess some knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, both outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; possess physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead. Work Environment Jobs are normally performed in a school environment or outdoors. Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from school. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Requirements NFHS Coaches Training, First Aid, Steroid Awareness, Concussion Management and Heat Illness Training.
