Description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a Level III Trauma Center OR requiring 2 years of general surgery experience with vascular case capability.

Details

Surgery Room unit within a Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center with Magnet designation

21-bed OR with 1:1 patient ratio

Primarily general surgery cases including breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, GU, and GYN, with ability to perform all case types including vascular

Robotic surgery (Xi) exposure but agency staff not typically trained unless strong background and longer contract commitment

8-hour day shift with variable start times between 0530-0700

No weekend rotation for day shift

Floats within Main OR specialties and Urology center, no floating to other hospitals/sites

On-call required with 30-minute response time on an 8-week rotating schedule

Call includes EOS shifts, 2230-0700 slots, and 1-2 weekend call assignments per 8-week period

Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris, and Pyxis systems

Support on unit includes Charge Nurse, Team Leads, Supervisors, and Manager

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of core surgical technologist experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

BLS certification required

Active license required if applicable

EPIC EMR experience required

Ability to perform vascular procedures required

Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

Not recommended for first-time travelers; further approval and evaluation from hiring supervisor required if considered

Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before eligible for travel assignment

Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules

Orientation runs 1-1.5 weeks depending on team and shift assignment

Surgical scrubs provided by hospital; scrub caps allowed but must be covered by a surgical bouffant

Free parking available with shuttle service to and from parking structure

Starbucks and cafeteria available on campus

No call rooms available on site

Holiday weeks allow working four 10-hour shifts to achieve full hours, or taking the holiday unpaid

Clinical interview required with manager review of any offers
